Tune the advanced settings
Set how much of each Salesforce limit Sojourn leaves for your own automation and which Omni-Channel statuses start agent work, or put the advanced settings back to their defaults.
Most orgs never change these. Open Sojourn Settings, then Advanced under Operations. Each setting names its default, and a blank box always means the default, so an org that never opens this screen runs as Sojourn ships. Changing a setting needs the Customize Application permission, as the Overview settings do.
Limits in a save#
Sojourn records Intervals inside your users' saves, so it shares each save's Salesforce limits with your own triggers, Flows, and other apps: in a user's save, 100 queries, 10,000 rows written, and 10 seconds of CPU time. Before it does its work, Sojourn checks that the save would still have this much left over for everything else. When it would not, Sojourn steps aside: it writes a Limit error to the Error Log instead of the Interval, the user's save goes through, and the nightly Reconcile retries the change. See Watch Sojourn in the Health Monitor.
| Setting | What it leaves for your automation | Default | Range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Queries left for your automation | Queries the save can still run | 10 | 1 to 50 |
| Rows left for your automation | Rows the save can still insert, update, or delete | 2,000 | 100 to 5,000 |
| CPU left for your automation, milliseconds | CPU time the save can still spend | 2,000 | 500 to 9,000 |
A higher number leaves more for your automation, and Sojourn steps aside sooner, so more changes wait for Reconcile; a lower number does the opposite. None of them can be 0, so Sojourn never spends the last of a limit. Rows stop at 5,000 because that is the most one Summaries chunk writes, so a larger reserve would leave room no job uses. A number saved outside its range some other way, for example by editing Sojourn's custom setting in Setup, is read as the nearest end of the range. Sojourn reads only the custom setting's org-wide values: a value set for a profile or a user in Setup has no effect, so no one can change, for their own saves, what Sojourn records about them.
Each box shows the saved number, or the default while none is saved. Clear a box to go back to its default, then choose Save limits. A number outside its range is refused, for example "Queries left for your automation: enter a whole number from 1 to 50, or leave it blank for the default, 10.", and nothing is saved.
Omni-Channel#
The Omni-Channel card shows when Omni-Channel is turned on in the org, whether or not the Sojourn Omni-Channel package is installed; without the package, the statuses you save record nothing. Agent work starts at lists the Agent Work statuses at which the Sojourn Omni-Channel package opens an Agent work Interval: Assigned and Opened unless you change them. Choose statuses from the org's own list, at least one, and choose Save statuses. Omni-Channel agent work is on the Plus plan, so on the Free plan the card shows the statuses with its controls off and the Plus notice.
The limits of Sojourn Dashboards, how many dashboards each person keeps, how many charts a dashboard holds, and how many summary rows one chart adds up, are under Advanced on the Dashboards screen. See Set what dashboards start with.
Reset to defaults#
Reset to defaults puts twenty-five settings back to their defaults: the four on this screen, six on other screens, the thirteen on the Dashboards screen, and the two of the Get started guide. The dialog names them as their screens do:
- Live values: keep current for (days), on the Jobs screen
- Queries left for your automation
- Rows left for your automation
- CPU left for your automation, milliseconds
- Intervals per purge part, under Retention and purge (see The purge part size)
- Day rows become Month rows after (days), on Summaries
- Needs attention when open errors are more than, on the Health screen
- Something is wrong when open errors are more than, on the Health screen
- A job is late after (hours), on the Health screen
- Agent work starts at
- The thirteen Dashboards settings, on the Dashboards screen: New dashboard Tracked field, New dashboard period (days), New dashboard hours, Owners in an owner chart, Owners in the Owner filter, Values in a Trend, Rows in Longest open, Print in colour, Print paper, Print without data tables, Dashboards for each person, Charts on a dashboard, and Summary rows one chart adds up
- The two Get started settings, on Get started: Guide Opens First is turned back on, so Sojourn Settings opens on the guide again while a required step remains, and Guide Marked Done is cleared, so the two steps marked done by hand show To do again
Tracking enabled, the default business hours, the retention period and the archive, Breach alerts, the job schedules, and every Tracked object, Tracked field, and goal are kept.
- Choose Reset to defaults. The dialog lists the twenty-five settings.
- Type RESET in capitals. Reset to defaults in the dialog turns on only when the word matches.
- Choose Reset to defaults. A notice says "Advanced settings are back to their defaults."
You are done when
- Each box on the Advanced screen shows the number you saved, or its default, and its hint names the default.
- After a reset, the Live values window on the Jobs screen reads 90 days again, and the Health screen shows its defaults.
